FeesThe DPNA Coaching Series consists of 4 coach education workshops focusing on various aspects of coach development. With theoretical and practical elements, the workshops will cater for club coaches at all levels of their coaching journey. The sessions will be delivered by experienced DPNA Advanced Accredited Coaches. All enquiries to DPNA Head of Coaching & Development by email: coaching@downeypark.com.au
Fees: $10 per session, or $30 for all four sessions.
What to bring/wear: Comfortable clothing and sports shoes, pen and paper, water bottle.
SESSION #1 PRINCICPLES OF COACHING
Tuesday 11th March, 6:00pm
Introduces the core principles of coaching, emphasising the fundamental role of a coach. It highlights the importance of the KNEE Program for injury prevention and techniques to enhance player safety. The session also covers the fundamental skills and strategies of netball, including player development and key coaching frameworks.
SESSION #2: SPECIALIST SHOOTING
Tuesday 18th March, 6:00pm
This session is facilitated by Amanda VanderWal, High Performance Coach. Learn and develop knowledge on fundamental shooting technique, circle rotations and circle entry. This session allows for a comprehensive training experience for coaches to apply their knowledge into practice.
SESSION #3: BACK TO BASICS
Tuesday 25th March, 6:00pm
Dives into the fundamental of skill development in netball, focusing on the “Back to Basics” approach. Coaches will explore the “Good, Better, How” framework, which helps players understand the difference between current skill levels and areas for improvement. The session covers effective skill progression techniques, providing strategies to advance players from basic to more complex movements. Additionally, coaches will learn the process of detection and correction, ensuring players receive adequate feedback to build solid foundation of fundamental skills.
SESSION #4: SESSION PLANNING
Tuesday 1st April, 6:00pm
Focuses on the essential aspects of session planning, following key elements to ensure a balance between technical skills and tactical understanding. Coaches will learn how to create structured, purposeful sessions that align with team goals and player development. Additionally, the session introduces the CHANGE IT Framework, a tool to modify drills and activities to cater to different skill levels, ensuring all players are challenged and engaged in their learning process.
